Dengue fever is one of the most important infectious diseases in public health in the Philippines. We conducted a KAP (Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice) survey on dengue fever and published a paper summarizing our findings.

We conducted a KAP survey on dengue fever among teachers working in public elementary and secondary schools in San Fernando City, Pampanga, Philippines.
School teachers were targeted because of their role in disseminating information on dengue fever through education. Television was the most frequently cited source of information on dengue, while health staff were cited as the most trusted and common source of information.
It was found that those with good knowledge of dengue treatment and prevention were more likely to take actions to avoid mosquito bites, while those with good knowledge of dengue symptoms and prevention also took actions to prevent mosquito breeding sites.

The KAP survey results indicate that Filipino teachers have sufficiently high health literacy about dengue fever. However, despite high health literacy as well as dengue policies, programs, and strategies, the number of reported cases of dengue fever in the Philippines is increasing. To achieve a dengue-free Philippines, dengue prevention programs need to be tailored to effectively reach the target population and have a more effective impact.
