On Saturday, November 29, an organized session titled “The Role of Academic Research in Ensuring the Health and Education of Children in Asia and Africa in the SDGs Era: Possibilities and Challenges of School Health Research” was held at the 36th Annual Conference of the Japan Association for International Development (JAID) at Hiroshima University.
The session was organized and presented by Dr. Sachi Tomokawa (Shinshu University), Ms.Thoumma Souknaly(Graduate School of the University of the Ryukyus), Dr. Mika Kigawa (Kanagawa University of Human Services), Dr. Taeko Takayanagi (Tokyo Woman’s Christian University), Ms. Kaede Tabira (University of the Ryukyus), and Dr. Mikiko Inaoka (International University of Health and Welfare).
Dr. Manami Uehara (University of the Ryukyus) participated as the discussant.
The session focused on the possibilities and challenges of school health research in Asia and Africa, featuring several case studies and in-depth discussions.
Through active exchanges with participants, we deepened our shared understanding of the importance of integrated approaches that link health and education in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
