JICA's Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV)
While serving as a JOCV, I worked at a health care center on Lombok Island promoting nutrition while working with local health care professionals. My main responsibilities involved operating and managing health care posts and holding nutritional skills classes that involved demonstrations on how to prepare healthy baby food. I was also responsible for promoting health education at various elementary schools and kindergartens. Each health care post was also responsible for gathering basic health statistics, baby weightings, managing inoculations, and pregnancy check-ups. I also provided technical guidance for health volunteers and contributed to various health education materials.
