The 3rd Study Session for JC-GSHR Members-Only

This is Luna Shimabukuro, a member of JC-GSHR secretariat.

This time, I would like to report on the 3rd study session for JC-GSHR members, in which I am also involved as one of the planning members.

In the 3rd study session, we discussed the third part of the Japanese edition of "Helping Health Workers Learn," a best-selling book that has been translated and published around the world and is required reading for anyone who wants to create a healthy community.

The third part was mainly intended to provide ideas for using books in training and classes. Based on this content, we were able to share opinions and experiences with participants who have experience in activities related to health education in Japan and abroad.
From this study session, we were able to reaffirm the importance of not teaching in one direction, but rather devising ways for the target audience to investigate and learn on their own.
We also learned that it is important not to take for granted that they know how to use a book or do research, but to properly assess their abilities and allow enough time for them to learn such basic skills.
